The two ways to pay
- Pay per purchase at checkout.
- Buy DLsite Points first, then spend them. Points are the store’s internal balance: 1 point equals 1 yen, points can be spent from the first point, and they are sold in blocks starting at 1,000 points. Points expire one year after your last purchase or use — and any activity extends the whole balance, so an active account effectively never loses them.
Accepted methods
DLsite’s payment guide lists the following. Note how domestic the list is — this is the single biggest obstacle for buyers outside Japan.
| Method | Notes |
|---|---|
| Credit card | DLsite’s English store lists Visa, Mastercard and JCB. Cards issued outside Japan don’t always go through, so DLsite itself recommends buying points first. Single payment only; appears as “DLsite” on your statement |
| BitCash | Prepaid code, obtainable from resellers outside Japan |
| PayPay / d払い / FamiPay / 楽天Edy | Japanese mobile payment services |
| みんなの銀行 / Pay-easy net banking | Japanese bank services |
| atone / ペイディ | Japanese deferred payment |
| Convenience store | Payment in-store in Japan |
| WebMoney / mobile POSA | Point purchase only |
d払い, WebMoney and mobile POSA can be used to buy points but not to pay for a work directly.
If you are outside Japan, the realistic paths are a Visa, Mastercard or JCB card (not guaranteed to go through), or a prepaid code such as BitCash converted into DLsite Points — the most reliable route.
When a card is declined
A decline is usually the card issuer, not the store. Common causes are international transaction blocks, a mismatched billing address, and 3-D Secure challenges that time out. Trying the same card repeatedly does not help. Buying DLsite Points through a prepaid route and paying with the point balance sidesteps the card path entirely.
Prices, tax and currency
Prices are shown in Japanese yen. Your card issuer converts at its own rate and may add a foreign transaction fee, so the amount on your statement will differ slightly from the yen price.
Refunds
Digital purchases are generally final. Refund handling is at DLsite’s discretion and requests go through their support, not through dojinavi.
